PP28 Tamper evident closure: innovative and lightweight
PP28 Tamper evident closure development forms basis of partnership between Astra Plastique and KSPICO of Kuwait.
Astra Plastique has developed Capepharma, an innovative lightweight single-piece HDPE closure, specifically designed for liquid pharmaceuticals to suit the industry standard PP28 neck finish, offering the security of tamper evidence and at a price to compete with traditional aluminium ROPPs.
The closure has been adopted by Kuwait Saudi Pharmaceutical Industries Company (KSPICO) and forms the basis of a strategic partnership between the two companies.
Speaking about Capepharma, Charles de Robillard, GCS Pharmaceutical Market Leader explains: “Astra has used its own and the GCS Group’s technol¬ogy and expertise gained over many years in the high-volume Beverage market and combined this with our experience in the demanding Pharmaceutical market to develop a lightweight plastic tamper evident closure manufactured in a Class 100,000 environment at a competitive price as a real alternative to aluminium ROPPs. The closure skirt is slit after moulding to provide visual tamper evidence with the advantage of eliminating the risk of cuts to the hand as often seen with traditional aluminium closures and the fact that Capepharma can be supplied with a choice of standard liner options makes it ideal for a variety of product applications.”
KSPICO found the change to Capepharma smooth and trouble-free, requiring only minor adjustments to its capping machine settings. Naseem Zubaidi, Purchasing-In-Charge said, “Capepharma is an excellent closure solution providing the security, user-friendliness and high quality we require at a cost which is very advantageous to us in the highly competitive OTC markets we serve through the tender process. We are delighted to have built a strategic partnership with Astra Plastique for our tamper evident closure requirements.” KSPICO manufactures a range of pharmaceutical products for leading health care institutions in both government and private sectors in Kuwait, the Gulf States, the Middle East and some African territories with a growing portfolio of more than 120 products.
